Patricia Day

Writing has been a passion through my entire life. A Stolen Childhood, Eleanor's Story, is my first full-length book. It takes the reader on a personal journey with Eleanor; from her painful childhood to her amazing adult life.

Subjected to many traumas, such as, abuse, rejection, divorce, and others that you will discover along the journey, she nevertheless found the strength to persevere. Determined to never give up, and I hope her resourcefulness will inspire you to hang on, whatever your circumstances, and live your own life to the fullest. You never know where that journey might take you.

Over the years, I have had poetry and devotionals published too. I also write book reviews for major publishing companies.

Married, with four children and eleven grandchildren, I love family-time, reading, gardening and photography.

The soft cover printed version of my book is available by request by email. $15 plus shipping. will find me.

I do hope to hear from you. Meantime, happy reading.

Eleanor had experienced the dire psychological effects of alcohol and spousal abuse in her childhood home, but undeterred she overcame the emotional traumas and laid claim to international success as an author. Bad choices and living life her way failed. There was one very essential change required, one that she chose to avoid. Once done, her life became so much better.

  • The Big Red Chair on May 28, 2012

The Big Red Chair tells a very personal story of the illness and eventual death of a much-loved Poppa (Afi) in a family. It is a short story that is poignant yet funny, poetic yet profound. Some may find it too personal a story, thinking it is Brenda's family's story not yours. You would of course, be right - however, the beautiful pictures and the simple wording make it such a blessing for young children. That is who it is written for, but I know you will find that it gets under adult skin too. It is a tale of how illness affects family members, the love shared in and around The Big Red Chair, and the memories it still evokes as it is still sat in, looked at and fondly remembered with Afi sitting in it, loving each one of them so much. It will bring tears to your eyes or your heart; but that will be good, because they will be cleansing tears of grief and pain released, as each moment is recaptured with gentle humor for a few moments. Recalling memories of the love, hugs and joy once shared but now gone.
