I'm Pam Lomax, a new author with Smashwords. I taught high school in Virginia and California for years . I decided to retire and pursue a writing career for my Act 2. I believe in God, love, nature, peace and all things related. I am married 34 years to Glenn.
I wrote weekly newspaper columns that focused on parenting and school issues. In my adventurous 20's I wrote and performed poetry in nightclubs with a group of creative people.
When I am not writing, I am developing my business, PDMaxpublications. For relaxation, I knit hats for charity and read.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I love the tablet for e-reading. It is so easy to use and I can take it anywhere. I started with the Kindle and just loved it. Many of my high school English teacher friends had problems adjusting to e-reading. But I loved using the devices to read and especially when I was busy cleaning house or cooking, I had no problem using the audio of my reader while I completed daily tasks. My daughter gave me a tablet for Mothers Day, so I am adjusting to e-reading on that device.
What book marketing techniques have been most effective for you?
I follow whatever the publisher or distributer recommends. I research best practices and try to apply them to my publishing world. There are so many choices out there, way beyond writing a book and putting it in someone's hands. Authors can really have a say in every aspect of their book. I took a class on marketing your e-book and learned that I needed to become known on social media and that was almost as important than writing your book.
