I had been curious about the benefits of fasting from a health standpoint more so than a religious practice until finishing Food in God's Place. The author stresses the importance of a Jesus dependent attitude when fasting and how it requires blocking out distractions such as media, internet, negative relationships etc. The dialogue format was easy to follow and created more connectivity to the main character in my view. This was my first book on fasting and I enjoyed how it put so many core elements in perspective (suffering, wisdom, faith, trust, forgiveness) as they relate to our relationship to the Father. Even if you can't fast from food due to health concerns , you should consider this book. The author points out fasting from media, internet, etc can also help you become more Christ centered .
