Jeff Gillenkirk is a former speechwriter for New York Governor Mario Cuomo, U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer and a political consultant and communications strategist for numerous public officials and non-profit organizations. He has lived in Washington, D.C., New York, San Francisco, Paris and other world capitals. His previous books include Bitter Melon: Inside America's Last Rural Chinese Town (Heyday Books) and the novel Home, Away (Chin Music Press). Pursuit of Darkness was chosen by former National Public Radio correspondent Margot Adler "as the best of the lot" in her book, Vampires Are Us: Understanding Our Love Affair with the Immortal Dark Side.
