If you met me today, you would never guess my unusual past. I am happily married to a professional tailor and fashion designer, and together we have four mostly grown children. I have a B.S. degree in Language Arts from Oakwood University (1990), a M.A. degree in English from the University of Cincinnati (1996), and a Ph.D. in Communication from Regent University (2007). I currently chair of the Communication Department at Andrews University.
The book is a memoir of growing up in physical and social isolation stemming from a one-family, cult-like version of extreme religion, yet shaking free from family dysfunction and spiritual abuse to develop a wholesome life grounded in faith.
