Rachel J Turner lives near Portsmouth, England with her partner Steve and her very favourite daughter Floss. Other members of the household include Trixie the dog, who thinks she’s a cat; Alfie the dog, who likes running in zigzags and having his belly rubbed; Ginger the Campervan; Dave the Stormtrooper; and a selection of pet dragons and unicorns that other people insist they can’t see.
Dragonflu is Rachel’s first novel. She hopes that you enjoyed reading it and that you all find a pet dragon of your own someday.
Finnerty Tippett has just made the greatest discovery of his life. But if he wants to keep it, he's going to have to run. And it's dangerous on the Outside. Award winning new fantasy adventure from Rachel J Turner, with illustrations by Adam Daffurn.
This is a lovely story about a girl who wants to escape the life expected of her and go on rides and adventures instead. The feisty female protagonist in this tale is loveable and believable. The supernatural world that she enters feels familiar but original at the same time, which is perfect. Children would love to hear this story, especially of the little dragon. The only downside to the story is that many passages are quite drawn out, making me want to skip bits to get to the action. I very much enjoyed it nonetheless, and with a bit of an edit to speed up the pace, this would be a fantastic read.
