I am a novelist, blogger and regular columnist for the ezine Extra Innings. I am interested in exploring what motivates us to make life changing decisions. My writing focuses on major themes such as betrayal, friendship, loyalty, atonement and redemption.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I like to watch the story unfold as I write. I don't use an outline because I find that confining. I have a broad sweep of the story arc and plot through to the conclusion. As I write scenes develop and each scene contributes to the story. While I give myself weekly word goals I find that I don't need them but I know they give me a target.
What do your fans mean to you?
The purpose of writing is to have readers. I like to meet with my readers at any time, any place. I've met with readers in a library at a book club, at a reader's home for a book club, at a coffee shop, at an independent bookstore, at Irish festivals and even at a brew pub. It is these interactions with readers that give me energy and the drive to keep writing. This is my encore career and the one I've always been meant for.
