Randall Jarmon

Biography

Randall Jarmon, Ph.D., has followed such an unusual path that few authors will tell a story the way he does.

He started out as an English major at heart, but ended up with an engineering degree. It sparked his enduring interest in technology. Part of the fun for those with technical backgrounds is determining when the technology in his stories goes from fact to fiction. The shifts will be subtle. Expect to miss one or two.

Some elite military training long ago still helps ensure his descriptions of weapons, munitions, and martial arts are realistic.

His doctorate is in Management. Among other things, he easily explains the complex organization of human activity. Look for good plots clearly set forth.

Dr. Jarmon and his wife divide their time between Arizona and Texas. They have two children, six grandchildren, and a golden retriever named Virgil.

Smashwords Interview

What motivated you to become an indie author?
Mainly, I wanted control over the words for which readers will hold me accountable. For better or worse, I did not want some publisher's editor making those decisions for me.
How do you approach cover design?
I usually start off by trying to do my own cover. I might as well. It's cheaper and I have to come up with the jacket information, anyway.

If I don't like my result, I'll contract the cover out to a graphic artist.

The main thing is having a great story behind the cover. Readers in a hurry might pick a book based on its cover, but ultimately they'll judge that book based on its story.
