Richard Hackett Jr
Richard Hackett holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Oregon State University in International Business and Marketing, with a minor in History. Married with two children, he and his family have traveled extensively in the US and sailed the Caribbean and South Pacific. When not consumed by his real world business endeavors, he has focused a great deal of his personal time and energy on military history and strategy and the character traits of military leaders. He also enjoys exploring and researching the spiritual aspects of life and Christianity. He has always been an “outside the box” thinker, yet a realist when it comes to application and implementation of those dreams.
THE BLACK DRAGONS
The Black Dragons was his first writing release. The concept was birthed while sailing the U.S., Spanish and British Virgin Islands. During a visit to Christiansted, St. Croix, the author and his son took a tour of the historic fort that protected the city and the plantations that thrived there during the 1700’s. He fell in love with the island, its rich history and people, and the cultural and racial challenges and fears that the plantation owners and their workers faced while nations vied for their control. It was there that the seed for the book was planted and the inspirational story took on its life.
The Black Dragons takes place during the prelude to and start of the American Revolutionary War. The story deals with the horrors of war, the intrigues and corruption of politics, the effects of hate and prejudice, the value and power of friendship and loyalty, and the character and talent that is needed to courageously lead troops into battle and then recover from it.
The Black Dragons reaches across the cultural and racial barriers of the era and brings to life the hope and social potential that awaits on the other side. Deep character lessons that surpass the historical setting abound for young and old, male and female, and those of all races and cultures.
THE EYES OF THE HEART
Back Cover Overview -
From the time he took the job with Allen Brooke, Inc., Luke’s life had gone from one incredible challenge to the next. In the blink of an eye he had somehow transitioned from writing training manuals for a new game console, to putting his very life on the line for the company. He was quickly realizing that the product he was working on was no game at all, and that it had far more uses and dangers for society than he could have ever imagined. Even the most dangerous and secretive branches of the government were looking intently into it, and into anyone who was involved with it. As he contemplated each challenge, he came to realize that there was more going on behind the scenes than he ever expected and that each challenge was a journey that few in history have taken, and far fewer had survived. He would need to use every resource his body could call upon, including the most important one that he had yet to learn how to use… The Eyes of His Heart.
(Planned release date of June 2012!)
