Describe your desk
It is a massive roll top desk. The top hasn't been rolled down since the day after I brought it home. It is cluttered with scraps of writing that have never found a home, charger cords that are probably obsolete, my wife's overflowing ashtray, a flash light that doesn't work and floppy discs from three computers ago.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in southern Michigan, but it was my summers in Kentucky that influenced my writing. The mountains of The Cumberland Plateau have always fascinated me. Every fold and hollow seemed to hold some dark mystery. I could imagine witches hiding here, and outlaws. The flatlands of the north has never sparked my imagination. They say you should write what you know, but I believe you should write about things you find mysterious.
