Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Wales, UK, and always loved reading books. Some of my favourite reads as a child were Asterix, Tintin, Star Trek and Star Wars novels and Roald Dahl. When anyone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would always say that I wanted to be an author. as I grew up and learned about publishing, I put this dream away, feeling that it would never be possible for me. but now, thanks to e-readers, Amazon, Smashwords and in particular the wonderful books written by Mark Coker, I am able to fulfil my dream at last!
When did you first start writing?
I first started writing in school, sometimes for school work and sometimes for myself. Poems, short stories and articles. My proudest moment was when my English teacher gave me an A+++ grade for a story I'd worked on all summer long!

This is an excellent book, not just for people writing dissertations - although speaking as one, I can wholeheartedly recommend it - but also for any kind of writer. I loved the ideas about keeping a chain of writing going, and the "write drunk, edit sober" idea!
What a delightful book! As a student of Chinese, I'm always looking for things that can make learning languages easier. I really love the author's approach to languages, and found the Mandarin section most interesting. I shall definitely be using this book whenever I need to get ready to visit another country!
