Alicia Katz Pollock

Biography

Alicia received her first computer, an Apple IIc, when she was 13 years old, and her passion for computers grew as she did.

She began her career by designing a database for her father’s dental practice that automatically sent checkup reminders to patients every 6 months.

Alicia later earned her Master of Arts in Teaching from Tufts University and developed computer curricula.

Today, she is a successful small business owner, where she and her husband, Jamie, are in-demand computer trainers and business solutions consultants.

Alicia has mastered teaching computer technology by embodying the art of communication, the patience of a trainer, the wisdom of a consultant, and the detailed eye of an obsessive/compulsive.

She has authored several books, including the recently published Master Intuit QuickBooks Online: From Setup to Tax Time.

Smashwords Interview

What is your writing process?
As I use my own laptop to run my company, I find myself using all kinds of "creative" techniques to make my documents do what I want them to do. I figure if they save me time and give me control over my output, my readers would enjoy them, too!
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
I picked up my first "grownup" book when I was nine years old. "Firestarter" by Stephen King was open face down on my parents' bed. I expected it would be too hard for me, and was entirely surprised when it was easy to read. I've been hooked on reading (and Stephen King!) ever since.
