Ross Rossin

Biography

Ross R. Rossin is a Bulgarian-born American artist. For more than 25 years, he has created a host of impressive paintings and has received numerous recognitions. Rossin established his reputation as one of the world’s leading portrait painters, with a focus on world leaders in politics, business, science, history and the arts. His work can be found in various government institutions, museums and private collections. Four of his paintings are part of the permanent collection of the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery in Washington D.C.: Ambassador Andrew Young, famed actor Morgan Freeman, Dr. Maya Angelou and baseball legend Hank Aaron.
Born on March 23, 1964, Rossin began painting at the age of six. By nine, he picked up oil painting techniques from local masters’ studios, where he was privately tutored by some of Bulgaria’s best. After graduating from Sofia Fine Art Academy, he worked in Japan. Throughout the 1990s, Rossin traveled around the world, exhibiting in Western Europe and elsewhere. In 2001, he relocated with his family to the United States, where he has created more than 500 portraits to date.
Rossin’s portrait of Mahatma Gandhi was presented to the Indian Prime Minister in June 2013. His paintings help individuals worldwide connect with leaders from all continents, cultures and occupations. Whether it is the portrait of President Jimmy Carter that hangs in the Carter Presidential Library and Museum, the double portrait of Presidents George H. Bush and George W. Bush in the George H. Bush Presidential Library and Museum or the portrait of King George VI, marking Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee, which was accepted by H.R.M. Queen Elizabeth II and became her royal property, each Rossin portrait is a painted biography, highlighting the unique qualities of one soul. His art effortlessly transcends geographic and political boundaries and economical or cultural divides.
Ashley Fulton and the Secret of Europe is Rossin’s second book.
His first book, Aisy, was published in 2000 in Bulgaria and to this day delights readers with subsequent editions.
