Maureen Burns spent much of her life traveling and working in the fashion industry in Australia and New Zealand. Later life saw her writing about her travels and life experience. Along with the memoir Journey to the Self, she has also written Collage, a collection of shorter pieces, and co-authored a memoir with her son Adam Burns, Mind Over Memory – Surviving Amnesia.
A child of wartime London, Maureen emigrated to the other side of the world in the 1950’s. Crossing the Alps in a bubble car, sailing through the Suez Canal, driving in the Australian outback alone, she recreated herself time and time again. A maverick spirit with an appetite for change, Maureen set out to see the world and to see how it would change her.
