Smashwords Interview

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in a small community of 250 in Central Kentucky in the 1950's and 60's. Television was minimal due to poor reception, so I developed a love of reading. My mother always provided books, took me to the library in the county seat, and brought many magazines into our home. I believe my early love of reading is the greatest influence on my writing.
When did you first start writing?
I won a short story contest for my local newspaper when I was a Junior in High School. In my job as video producer and in my professional career as educator, I did a lot of non-fiction writing. My writing for pleasure did not return until my retirement in May of 2013
