Ray Ziemecki

Biography

Ray Ziemecki was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Although his parents were of modest means, he looks back on his childhood fondly. "It was great. No complaints," he says, "All that New York had to offer was mine, all mine."

The biggest influence on his life was his older brother Ben. "He taught me how to tie my shoes, tell time and the multiplication tables. He endowed me with a life long love of reading which changed the course of my life and the person I was to become."

Upon graduating High School at age seventeen, Ray joined the Marine Corps and gained the rank of Sergeant in two and a half years. He has spent the greatest part of his life in the deep south, in "The Good Life City," Albany, Georgia.

He has been married for the last sixteen years, "to the most wonderful woman in the world. One of the many things about her that I love," He says, "is her incredible ability and willingness to put up with me."

For the last twenty years or so, he has been drawn to mystery stories, particularly English mystery stories and most particularly Sherlock Holmes.

He has worked on his writing on and off through the years and has finally achieved his life's goal, to become a published novelist at age 78!! And he's currently working on the sequel to his first novel.

When asked, what he has to say about his life, he smiles and replies, "I want this written on my tombstone, 'It was never dull.'"
