Describe your desk
Neat and orderly. I know where everything is as I've arranged it.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in California, born in Santa Monica, first lived in Encino, grammar school in Pacific Palisades, junior high and high school in Los Gatos, entered theatre at Orange Coast College, graduated from CSULB with a B.S. in Radio TV and Film. My dad took me to see 2001 a Space Odyssey when I was a kid in Santa Monica and it blew my mind. I remember the first Star Wars, the first Alien, the first Planet of the Apes, Logan's Run, all the great 70's sci-fi stuff. I also loved all the disaster/adventure movies, Jaws, The Towering Inferno, among others. When I got into college I enjoyed writing satirical Saturday Night Live type skits, and was really into David Mamet's dialogue during his Glengarry Glen Ross period. I was also influenced by the black and white noir films of Humphrey Bogart, among others.
