Smashwords Interview

What's the story behind your latest book?
My latest book, "Encore Worth the Wait," was a story I started over 10 years ago but set aside. Last year I started thinking about it again and inspiration hit. I finished a first draft pretty quickly before spending months refining it with the help of my editors. I was interested in telling a love story about musicians who've worked together for a long time. The creative process, the passion for music, the long hours. That kind of relationship can be like a marriage, and I wanted to explore that idea: what keeps an artistic duo going? Is it their music or something more than that?
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The greatest joy of writing is telling a story. I don't usually know how the story will end when I begin writing something, and even though it's hard work, I enjoy writing the story and discovering who the characters are and what's going to happen to them. When readers enjoy the finished story, it's amazing and humbling and makes me want to find another story to tell.
