  • Meeting Destiny on Jan. 16, 2012

Meeting Destiny is the story of Lauren and her journey to meeting her ‘destiny’ who happens to be the very swoon worthy and gorgeous, Max. The road to true love doesn’t run smooth but after a few incidents with her ex-boyfriend, Seth, things seem to be going well. Lauren is always finding herself in dangerous situations, which of course, is all part of her path in life. At first, I wasn’t sure if this novel was actually a paranormal or contemporary romance but it turned out to be a nice mixture of both. I enjoyed the book but found that I wasn’t caught hook, line and sinker until I hit about 40% after that I couldn’t put the book down and read the rest of it in one sitting. I really loved this book and there were some twists and turns that I definitely did not see coming!! Anyone who is looking for a really great story line should read this book! The only reason I didn’t give this book 5 stars was because I felt it really kicked off at about 40%. If it had been that way from the first page, I would have given 5 stars and then some. Nancy Straight has done an excellent job of writing her debut novel!

  • Deadly Obsession (Deadly Vices, Book 1) on Jan. 21, 2012

Deadly Obsession is the story of Lauren James and Nic Lamoureux, also known as Nic the lover. Lauren is a single mom, who works as a department store photographer. Nic is Hollywood's leading man, who hides a dark secret. Nic and Lauren are instantly attracted to each other, but in the background, a stalker is trying everything she can to keep them apart. So, what i loved about Deadly Obsession...Everything! I haven't read romantic suspense, and after reading this novel, i find myself wondering why i hadn't before. From the first page, i was hooked on this story. Nic, was an amazing character. Completely gorgeous and sexy as hell but there was more to him than that. I was pleasantly surprised to find that he had depth. Lauren was great. I loved her right away. Although, a few times i wanted to slap her for doing something stupid :) And her son, Jason was a sweetheart. I worked out who the stalker was not too far into the book, but the whole way through, i kept thinking maybe it wasn't. The story takes on you so many twists and turns, that you are kept on your toes. The sex scenes were steamy but not overdone, which is good. Kristine Cayne, has written a fabulous, engaging, suspenseful and thoroughly enjoyable first novel. I will be keeping my eyes open for anything else she writes. Another great Indie author find :)
