Samuel Stories was established in July 2008 with the vision of helping children cultivate a reading culture to have a better tomorrow. I discovered that the poor reading culture in our continent has robbed us of our dignity, pride and prosperity and there was a need to change this. Today I am glad to tell you that this vision is being achieved in grand style.
In July 2008, I came up with the first product of Samuel Stories. 3 books were packaged together and sold about 150 copies; this meant over 150 kids got the opportunity of cultivating the reading habit.
Between November 2008 and January 2009, I led a reading culture campaign in Okene local government, Kogi State, where I served the nation (NYSC). The campaign had kids lectured on the importance of cultivating a reading culture. Some corps members and I were able to reach 25 schools and sold over 2500 books alongside the lecture to enable the kids practice what they’ve learnt. Some schools made the books their literature texts.
In August 2009, Samuel Stories continued to take steps in achieving its vision by publishing and selling a set of children’s magazines (3 magazines) to reach more pupils, helping them cultivate a reading culture to face tomorrow’s opportunities and challenges. I call this STORY MAGAZINE.
Today, We've reached over 50 schools, 3000 pupils and sold over 5000 books to champion our reading culture campaign in Nigeria.
