The Adventures of Vivian Sharpe, Vegan Superhero on Feb. 22, 2012

I bought this book because Marla Rose is a friend, I needed a new book to read, and the price was right. Now I will tell you why I read the entire book in 2 sittings and want Marla to write a sequel!! I am an avid reader, thrillers, mysteries, love stories (I am a girl), and animal rights related writings. There are some books in my house that I have read over 10 times and others that are in the donate box because I cannot "get into" them to save my life. "Vivian Sharpe" manages to introduce the reader to interesting characters and develop a plot that draws them in at the same time right away. This is incredibly important to me. I am a busy girl and don't want to waste half a book on plot and character development while waiting for something to happen. I have no idea how many "pages" this book is, but it seems like there is a whole lot of stuff that happens in a book that is not incredibly long. Now on to the characters. They are memorable and come to life. Some may be slightly stereotypical, but are still totally believable, because we have all met them in real life and that makes the story more fun. Vivian is a very clever teenager whose life suddenly gets a lot more complicated and I found myself rooting for her many times and also relating to her in other parts of the story. The other characters are each unique in their owen way that also brings everything to life!! The storyline is creative and kept me guessing to what was going to happen throughout the entire book. Many books are very predictable and use recycled plots. You don't have to worry about that at all with "Vivian Sharpe." I also liked how there is an animal rights message in the story, but it's not all crazy in your face, it just pops up, is addressed, and then something else happens. I want to read about more of the adventures of Vivian and her friends, because they are really interesting and reading this book was so enjoyable. So Marla Rose, I know you are also a busy girl, but you have a least one reader that is hoping that you write more stories about Vivian Sharpe, Vegan Superhero! Books like this inspire all of us to be a little more like Vivian, and remind us all that one person can create change in their world!
