It's a little racist, and I don't mean because one of the characters unnecessarily uses the n-word - we're not supposed to like him, but that's still a lazy way to go about it, and unnecessary. But a couple of the characters are Asian, and there are some sweeping generalizations made about them and about black women that made me uncomfortable. There are also some interesting discussions of BDSM and Feminism. There's quite a lot of discussion of 50 Shades of Grey, which... come on, there are better BDSM romances. Perhaps the author is using that as an example of the unrealistic expectations these women have. The premise is good, though. I feel like with a good editor, this could be a really good book. It doesn't exactly end on a cliffhanger so much as stop in the middle of the story. If the story had been complete, with a cliffhanger, I would have enjoyed it more. Not sure I'll read the next book in the series, but it was intriguing.
