My name is Leonard Shaefer. I am a photographer, writer, artist, and instructor with over 30 years behind the camera. When I look through the lens I am searching for new ways to share my experience. The images I create are heavily weighted toward nature. I’m drawn to evanescent sunsets, the assemblage of landscapes, and the serendipity of searching out subjects in the wilderness.
As a photographer I have worked in Real Estate, with National Fund Raising Organizations, and the News Media, It is fun to leisurely search out that perfect shot for personal use, however, I thoroughly enjoy the challenges and outcomes of being on assignment. When your photos have to be their best, and you are telling someone else's story with the images, there are no second chances. If a mistake is made when shooting for my own pleasure then I have missed a great shot. When that mistake is made on assignment then someone is losing a once in a lifetime memory.
