Very good. Explains a lot of why certain things are so important to Vidanric in Crown Duel. eg. name vs titles, especially when it comes to Mel's acknowledgement of his real name, also how he comes to fall in love with Mel as she serves a good contrast to Senelac, and the ways in which the two regard him. More earthy, and more serious in tone than Crown Duel, a coming-of-age story. Would have liked more detail toward the end, seems to skip over a few years in a hurry to get to the end. Would like to see a bridging novel of the time between Vidanric's return to Remalna and the revolt in CD, from his perspective.
