Publisher info

StarWarp Concepts is a publisher of dark-fiction books and graphic novels for middle grade, young adult, and adult readers, with an emphasis on tales of urban fantasy and horror. Founded in 1993, the company first gained attention—and critical acclaim—with the release of Lorelei, a Mature Readers comic book series about a woman who, through supernatural means, is transformed into a succubus: a demon who uses her seductive powers to take the souls of evil men and women. Today, it publishes such titles as The Saga of Pandora Zwieback—a dark-urban-fantasy novel series about a teenaged monster hunter—and the nonfiction how-to book for writers, Terra Incognito: A Guide to Building the Worlds of Your Imagination.

Smashwords Interview

What's the story behind your latest book?
Blood Reign: The Saga of Pandora Zwieback, Book 2 is, as you can probably figure out, the second novel in the Saga of Pandora Zwieback series. Pan is a 16-year-old Goth girl and New Yorker who spent the last decade diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic because she can see monsters—but what she learned in Blood Feud, the first book in the series, is that there really are monsters in the world, and this "monstervision" (as she calls it) is actually a supernatural gift that allows her to see through their human disguises. And she learned this from an immortal, shape-shifting monster hunter named Sebastienne Mazarin (Annie, for short).

As if that wasn't enough, Pan's life got turned completely upside down after her father—who owns and runs a horror-themed museum in Queens, NY—purchased the skeleton of an alleged vampire, and wound up drawing the attention of rival vampire clans that had spent decades looking for the remains. When they finally crossed paths at the museum, there was an all-out war, and Blood Feud ended on a cliffhanger that serves as the launching point for the new book. Blood Reign picks up from there and takes Pan on further adventures as she tries to help prevent what's turning out to be a potential war between humanity and all of monsterdom—with the monsters led by a fallen angel who happens to be an ex-lover of Annie's!
What are you working on next?
Blood & Iron, which is the third novel in The Saga of Pandora Zwieback. It picks up where the cliffhanger ending of the previous novel, Blood Reign—which is currently on sale—left off, with Pan and her boyfriend, Javier, stuck in the middle of a really dangerous situation. Blood & Iron is the conclusion of what I've called the "Vampire War" trilogy, but it's not the last of Pan's adventures. I have ideas for plenty of other monsters she and her supporting cast can face!
