A sense of place figures strongly in Stella McCarthy's work.
In early childhood, she moved to Fort Collins, Colorado, when it was still a small town.
During her teen years she lived on a few acres in the Colorado country-side, complete with two horses, a long muddy lane, a cat-tail studded pond, and a deck which offered spectacular views of meteor showers and lightning storms.
Years later, seeking to recapture the solace of small town life, she moved to the village of Taos, NM, where she lived for five years and wrote two books. "What The Heart Wants" is her first novel.
