In 2012 I completed a Bachelor's of Arts (Creative Writing and History) from the University of Sunshine Coast. I then moved to Melbourne and completed a Postgraduate Diploma of Arts (Editing and Communication) from The University of Melbourne in 2013. The genres I am currently writing in are Science fiction, young adult, and speculative fiction.
When did you first start writing?
I remember my first story was in grade 1 when I was 6 years old. It was written for a competition called the Macintyre Young Writers. It was a about a baby eel running away from home, it didn't win a prize. But I finally got one in grade 7 :D
What motivated you to become an indie author?
There are a few reasons actually. Since around 13 I've always wanted to become an author, which was why I went to university to learn more about it. During my under and post grad studies I realised just how difficult it was to get a book published through a publishing house. These houses often focus on the marketability more so than the content of the book. In their opinion if they think that a book isn't mass marketable then they won't take it on. Also author's don't make as much money as they deserve. The going royalty rate from a publishing house is usually around 10% or 15% if they're lucky. Going indie allows me greater control over all aspects of my story. I'm a bit of a control freak in this aspect of my life.
When one of them becomes pregnant, sisters Daphne and Edwina are forced by their mother to go to the Witches of Evelyn to take care of it. The stories are that she was a wicked witch who lured men to their deaths, but at the same time, her coven provides a valuable service to the surrounding communities.
What is going on with my life? My hot neighbour, Beau, has a girlfriend; my brother is a dick who keeps taking the car (my useless parents let him. Why?); Alice, is supposed to be my best friend, but I can now see isn't. It seems that the only thing I have is that high school is almost over. But until it is I have to deal with all of this and the only way I'm going to is if I take control.
Serrah has lived alone in quarantine since a virus brought from a crashed spaceship almost destroyed her community. Belief is that it was intentional, but Serrah has other ideas. And with the crash of a mysterious object she might just begin to understand what is happening.
Actions have consequences, sometimes dire ones. Emaleah committed a grave crime against her kind when she broke a rule that was designed to keep her family and species safe. Now thirty years later, Myliah, her twin sister is mistakenly suffering the retribution that was meant for her.
