Stewart Giles was born in Middlesbrough, England in 1972. After spending four years studying English at three different Universities and graduating from none of them he set off travelling and finally settled in South Africa. In 2013, the first in a series of detective thrillers, 'Smith' was published to critical apathy. There followed a short spell of inspirational hiatus but in 2014, two more novels in the series, 'Boomerang' and 'Ladybird' were published in quick succession. 'Occum's Razor', the fourth in the series was released six months later. The Detective Sergeant Jason Smith series is fast becoming a firm favourite with murder mystery freaks and thriller trolls alike.

Smashwords Interview

What motivated you to become an indie author?
Rejection. That pretty much sums it up. After having manuscript after manuscript rejected by tons of agents, I turned to indie publishing. After all, we, as writers all want the same thing don't we? We want people to read our books.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Watch this space. I'm publishing for free because I just want all the months spent writing to be worthwhile; I want people to read my stuff.
