T.L. Zempel

T.L. Zempel has 25 years' experience in education, both in the public domain and for private parochial schools. She has seen a lot of educational fads come and go, and has come to the conclusion that most highly-educated and highly-paid administrators and researchers are missing the most obvious determinants in how and why children learn: class size and kid motivation.
Her first novel, Finishing School, is a comical treatise on the very real trends in public education that have ensued since the passing of Colorado law SB 191. It is her hope that the public will be entertained by her book but also take note of what is going on in our public schools with the flawed idea of pay-for-performance, which cannot work without the ability to create a perfect product through hard work and rigorous attention to detail. (The perfect product would be a child who passes the standardized tests with flying colors. It should not be difficult to see why the idea of pay-for-performance is a flawed idea.)
Ms. Zempel continues to live in the Denver area where she is working on the second book in her Wendy Taylor Adventure series.
