Tanya White has written since she was a young child. Born and raised in an inner city, impoverished neighborhood within SE Washington, D.C, her world drastically changed when she lost her mother to suicide at the age of eight, and began a life of living in foster and group homes.
As a young teenage girl of 13, she auditioned and qualified for entry to the prestigious high school of performing arts, Duke Ellington School of the Arts, in Washington, D.C. Upon completing high school, she attended the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she studied classical voice. Following her studies as a voice major, Ms. White completed her Bachelors of Science degree in Nursing at Howard University in Washington D.C., and she subsequently obtained her Masters of Social Work Degree from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Throughout her years as a performer, and now as a Registered Nurse in Hospice Care and alternative healing, she has continued to develop her craft as a writer, never losing her passion for the written word. Ms. White has utilized writing as an avenue to express the often-burgeoning emotions and feelings within her being and heart. Her intention is to touch others and ignite in them that which enlivens them and causes them to re-embrace their life’s journey with zest and fervor!
