Sean P. Robson

Biography

Sean Robson is a palaeontologist with a Ph.D. in Geological Sciences from the University of Saskatchewan. When not studying the chitinous, scaled, fanged, tentacled, and multi-appendaged monstrosities that haunted Earth's distant past he writes dark fantasy fiction while listening to Dead Can Dance and drinking way too much coffee. He is also the editor of Pulp Mill Press, which publishes the weird fiction short story anthology series, Libram Mysterium. He lives in Winnipeg, Manitoba with his wife, daughter, and alarmingly smelly cat, Pippin.

Smashwords Interview

What's the story behind your latest book?
I'm a huge fan of weird fiction stories published in pulp magazines, such as Weird Tales, in the early- to mid-twentieth century and I wanted to create an anthology series that showcases new tales of the weird and fantastic by some of today's best new and emerging writers of the genre. Libram Mysterium Volume 1 is the first in what I hope will be an ongoing collection of weird fantasy, horror, and science fiction short stories from around the world.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
There are very few venues for publication of the sort of weird fantasy that I am compelled to write. Although there are many fans of weird and pulp fiction, this is seen to be too small a market to interest traditional publishers. Fortunately, the freedom offered by indie publishing allows for the publication of a great diversity of genres and subjects, which is a fantastic opportunity for writers and readers alike and we no longer need to be restricted to the narrow field of the hottest best-seller.
