Miranda is a single mother who managed to get out of a dangerous and abusive marriage. Despite being a beautiful woman, she feels like she is used, scarred, fat , and useless because these have been words told to her many times by her ex. Since her divorce she hasn’t seen or dated any men. When she meets Dr. Zach Shannon, he’s different and feelings for him start to grow which scare her and she tries to push him away and run away from those feelings. Zach is very persistent and notices how special Miranda is and is not willing to let her get away that easily. He’s determined to be with her and get her to open up to him and start a relationship with him. Unfortunately, some past demons come back to the present and her whole future is suddenly threatened. My Thoughts As the title, Love or Die, foreshadows this is not your typical light and fun romance. This book definitely has the romance part but there’s also a dark side to the story. After reading the title, as you can imagine, there does come a point where there’s a matter of life and death situation. Love or Die is a novella and therefore a very quick read. I was surprised with how much was fit in to such a short story. However, because the majority of this story is told over a period of like a week or two I feel like the relationship she starts with Zach is kind of rushed and becomes intense quickly. I felt like Zach came on very strong rather quickly and while I was reading there were points where I felt like some of the things he said and did were almost creepy and a tad stalkerish. He turns out to be a great guy but there were times when he would say something that would have caused warning bells to go off for me. If you want a quick read that includes romance, mystery, action, and suspense then you would enjoy Love and Die because this short 85 page story has it all!
