I have read and loved both this prequel and BINDING ARBITRATION. The prequel is a great setup to BINDING ARBITRATION, although you don't have to read it before BINDING ARBITRATION. Do yourself a favor and read both, you won't be disappointed. I have moved on to her 3rd book, To Breathe the Breath of ISIS and I am enjoying it as well. The author creates characters you really get to know, understand, and get hooked on!
There is something sinister brewing in Salem!
The action scene at the end left me breathless and exhausted as I felt like I was there. I couldn’t read fast enough to find out what happens. If the Basilisk’s don’t freak you out then the Barguests will! Locke, Keleigh, Wiz, Madi, and their dog Boudicca are quite a team taking on the Shining Ones, a crazed Vate, and OtherWordly beasts!
Once you get into ‘OtherWordly’ scene and frame of mind, it is a fast paced read that you will not want to put down. The author is quite knowledgeable and her combination of Celtic mythology with a fantasy world is very well done and creates a world that is fun to escape to!
I am an adult reader and I loved this book!
Very enjoyable read. You will laugh while becoming attached to the characters in this touching story of an athlete who thinks he has it all, only to realize and appreciate what is truly important in life. At the end of this book, I felt a connection to the characters which is something I rarely find in many of the books I read. The author’s use of the female point of view versus the male point of view makes the conflict between them apparent. A well written blend of comedy and romance, sprinkled with elements of magical realism and philosophical sports quotes.
