H.J. Ted Gresham

Biography

I am a writer and home parent currently living in Lufkin, TX. I've been a home parent for 13 years. I'm somewhat disabled with limited mobility. I'm still perfectly able to write and travel when I have the opportunity.

My objectives are to write and publish more material, primarily fiction. I'm very good with dialog. I have a number of ideas and partial works I plan on finishing in the next few months.

Over many years, since the early 80's, I have been writing something or another. My writing skills were put to good use in several jobs I've had, especially as a caseworker for the Texas Department of Human Services.

After becoming a stay at home parent with several foster children I began to write and seek out publishing opportunities. I wrote for an online publication reporting on Texas Worker's Compensation rules when the legislature was reworking them. I wrote many articles published on TexasExplorer.com. And I've had assorted articles online around the web.

I have completed and self-published three books. I have several other manuscripts which I will be working on and publishing.

I am an excellent writer, very well at writing dialog. I have over twenty years experience at computers.

Smashwords Interview

Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
I have been writing for close to four decades. My writing would probably fill a library. There's no way I could remember the first one. I have stories scattered over computer hard drives going back to my old IBM Clone I have in storage. There's stories in files I wrote before the days of the PC. I have a few dozen old stories on this computer I'm hoping to polish off and publish.
What is your writing process?
I don't work with an outline or much of a plan most of the time. I just start typing and then let the story tell itself. Of course I've done research for the nonfiction I've written. I tend to keep most of my research. The key to a good finished story is ruthless editing.
