Louise T. Sequoia
The author began her broadcast/writing career in jazz radio at KMHD in Portland, Oregon. There she created radio programs, public service announcements, and hosted live on-air jazz and blues shows. From there she went into radio news and worked as a reporter in the San Francisco Bay area and developed a journalism program at a Title I school. She has been an educator for the past fourteen years and has worked as an international teacher in China, Saudi Arabia and on the campus of Yale University.

The lyrics to the Talking Heads song, "Once in a Lifetime" kept going through my head. It wasn’t a shotgun shack or a large automobile, but it was another part of the world.” I was on my own plan and didn’t want to go back to the USA. And so I end up in Saudi Arabia as a single American woman. There I discover people are not their government.
