Diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 5, author Aiden Dennis understands what it’s like to struggle with focus and attention. Now age 11, he knows first hand how difficult it can be to stay on task when it comes to
quiet activities like reading. To help kids like himself stay interested and be part of the action, he invites them to help Captain Waffello work through mazes, puzzles, challenges, and more.
In this and other stories Aiden delivers a positive and humorous message about self-acceptance and
overcoming challenges that makes these fun,
goofy, action-packed stories relatable to all kids, but in particular to those with ADHD/ADD or similar challenges.
How old were you when you published your first book?
11 years old – I started the book during my last semester of 5th grade and finished it over summer break.
Who are your readers?
Mostly kids ages 4-8. I write books that encourage kids to focus, so they’re perfect for kids that have ADHD/ADD or other attention-related issues. But many of my readers don’t have any trouble with attention or focus – they just like the silliness of the characters I think.
Want to help ADHD/ADD kids stay focused during storytime? This new approach gets kids involved right away and keeps them involved!! Captain Waffello is a hero like no other. He’s distractible, super silly, and determined to save the world from … burnt toast?
