The night calls to me in moonlit whispers and my daydreams answer.
Conjuring words from the ether is like breathing — my weapon — my therapy. It allows me to weed through all the pain, in an effort to find myself again.
My name is Sarah Doughty and I suffer from complex PTSD, depression, and debilitating anxiety. And if I don’t have a migraine, I have a headache. Every. Single. Day. Though I am terrified of the night, crowds, and much more, this darkness has become my home.
If writing is my breath, then my books are my life. While my poetry focuses on singular events meant to evoke feeling or spur memories, fiction is where my heart lies. Though my books are a way for me to escape my mind and experience a magical world, deep down the problems are very real. And in many ways, my characters are vivid and alive, which in turn helps me see the world in a better light.
I've shared them online for anyone who wants to read them — for free, to offer someone else hope, or the same, temporary escape as they did for me.
Tell me a little about yourself and what led you to writing.
Writing is my hobby, but is also my passion. The ability to tell stories, as I see them play out in my head is a way for me to express myself and to cope with the events of day-to-day life.
As a writer, what’s been your experience with posting your work to Instagram?
The community has been very welcoming. More than I could have hoped for. There’s a network that all bands together, growing as more join the fray of talented writers. I’m still humbled by the number of people that enjoy my work, and have made a great many special friends in the process – they know who they are.
Over three hundred years after their extinction and the collapse of the supernatural world, Aisling Green finds herself as the only Earthen witch in existence. With Connor by her side and a growing list of allies following her lead, she must learn to utilize the power she possesses, save the supernatural world and reunite it, protect the ones she loves, and defeat all that want her destroyed.
The Earthen Witch Shorts are exactly what they sound like. They’re shorter books or stories. These may have nothing to do with the characters you know and love from the novels, but the world is full of people, and they have their own stories to tell. These shorts are also adult urban fantasy romance.
The Earthen Witch World Novels are the individual stories of Aisling’s friends, written in their own perspective. Each book is a standalone, telling the story of one character. The timeline of each novel may overlap or intersect with the main storyline. These novels are also adult urban fantasy and paranormal romance.
Zoe Kavanaugh is clueless about the supernatural world and her place in it, but after she meets an unlikely ally, she discovers the awful truth about her past and the price she'll have to pay to protect the ones she loves.
The Mist Calling
on Oct. 24, 2018
I had the pleasure of reading this beauty before its release and I was blown away by the imagery and the metaphors Ms. Singh used to articulate love and loss, and the memories left behind. It was immersive, full of what many in the poetry community call "the feels," and it left a lasting impression on me. I highly recommend this to anyone that has ever loved and lost -- and to those that have come out the other side a better person. A wiser person. Embark on the journey into the mist with Ms. Singh. You won't regret it.
