Conjuring words from the ether allows me to weed through all the pain in my past, so that I might find myself again.
My name is Sarah Doughty and I suffer from complex PTSD, depression, and debilitating anxiety as a result of long-term childhood trauma. And if I don’t have a migraine, I have a headache. Every. Single. Day. I've done my best to adapt.
My books are a way for me to escape my mind and experience a magical world. But deep down the problems my characters face are real. In many ways, they feel vivid and alive, which in turn helps me see the world in a better light.
I’ve shared them online for anyone who wants to read them — for free, to offer someone else hope, or the same, temporary escape as they did for me.
When will the next book be released?
I'm currently in the early stages of a new series in the Earthen Witch universe. I'll announce additional details soon.
Tell me a little about yourself and what led you to writing.
Writing is my hobby, but is also my passion. The ability to tell stories, as I see them play out in my head is a way for me to express myself and to cope with the events of day-to-day life.
Over three hundred years after human zealots left the secretive supernatural world in ruin, Aisling Green's unique magic begins to emerge. But being an Earthen witch with powers beyond her comprehension is the least of her concerns, because she is the only one powerful enough to end the generations of isolation and mistrust amongst creatures like her. To succeed, she must embrace her new abilities and stand against evil in all its forms -- which is an impossible task for her to accomplish alone. With her growing list of allies, they must all learn to work together. To protect the weak. To save and reunite their shattered world. And not just to survive -- to live.
Voodoo practitioner Marcelline Webster thought her family’s massacre was the biggest of her worries when she flees New Orleans. But when she seeks asylum with the vampire known as Liam, she learns the truth goes much deeper...
Zoe Kavanaugh is clueless about the supernatural world and her place in it, but after she meets an unlikely ally, she discovers the awful truth about her past and the price she'll have to pay to protect the ones she loves...
The Mist Calling
on Oct. 24, 2018
I had the pleasure of reading this beauty before its release and I was blown away by the imagery and the metaphors Ms. Singh used to articulate love and loss, and the memories left behind. It was immersive, full of what many in the poetry community call "the feels," and it left a lasting impression on me. I highly recommend this to anyone that has ever loved and lost -- and to those that have come out the other side a better person. A wiser person. Embark on the journey into the mist with Ms. Singh. You won't regret it.
