I just read 'Day of Sacrifice' and it was fantastic! This novella is a supernatural love story/action story. I really want to give a great review so you guys will read it right away, but I don't want to give out any spoilers. The characters, Julian and Flora, are awesome. Stacey Benefiel always comes up with the best names for her characters. The world she has created in 'Day of Sacrifice' is genius and a bit frightening. Living your life knowing that you will be condemning your first born child to death is awful, but what about actually being that child, that sacrifice. No wonder Flora is a wild child, what does her behavior matter when she's going to be dead in a few days just so her father's business will flourish and the Gods are satisfied? I enjoyed this story because the entire time I was reading it I was thinking, "I'd probably do the same exact thing." Live it up while you're still living. But then there's a twist, as with all great fantasy stories, and Flora is given a new Guardian Angel. Her other one quit, as have the ones before her. And she must go into hiding so she stays safe and alive for the last three days before she is to be sacrificed to the Gods. Those three days are then filled with lust, magical fire fights and prophecies.
  • Glimmer (Zellie Wells #2) on Nov. 27, 2010

I just need to say that I've never been interested in reading books on my computer before Stacey Wallace Benefiel. I borrowed Glimpse from a friend and loved it so much that when Glimmer came out I needed to read it regardless of it's format, and I'm glad I did. I love books that make me stay up passed my bedtime and this was most definitely one of them. Zellie is seriously one of my favorite characters, like ever. The language used in this book is perfect, I can really imagine the teenage conversations. "Please let my gaydar be on the fritz", I think I've said that or a variation of that phrase hundreds of times. Another thing I like about this series are the covers. I love love love the artwork. So now I'm waiting for the next installment... Really excited. Oh, another thing, if you haven't read Day of Sacrifice you should probably get on that. I think Stacey Wallace Benefiel is a fantastic writer and if you agree you should read her other stuff too. :)

What a fantastic addition to this storyline! The more I read from this author the more I love her! I was a bit concerned at first when I realized that Julian and Flora weren't going to be showcased as much as they were in Day of Sacrifice, but I should have known better than to worry. Not only do I now have more characters that I adore, I have more of the story that is unraveling magnificently. Cara and Abel are marvelous. Perfect for each other and perfect for the storyline. I think bringing in Cara, a motherly figure, was a great idea. We have these kids who were only raised to die who now have a reason to live. Having Guardians is one thing, but Cara brings real heart to the story. It's also nice to bring in Vampires and werewolves, I'm so curious as to what's going to happen next! I can wait to get a more in depth look at the other characters and their stories. But I do love that Flora and Julian still have a huge role. Grrr... I'm not going give any spoilers no matter how much I want to. Just know that this is a fantastic series by a brilliant author!
