In 2000 he began working as a Security Consultant. Later that year the company was investigated by both the SEC and the FBI (for activities that were not related to Mr. Blacks employment) and eventually shut down. Mr. Black was indicted on weapons charges, and asked to testify in an unrelated Murder trial that related to his former boss at the company.

While on bond, Mr. Black left the United States and Joined the French Foreign Legion. He was captured in 2003, in Spain, and extradited back to the United States for sentencing in a firearms possession charge. He was sentenced to 87 months in prison.

Once there, he began his writing as a way to pass the time. He first wrote PURG and THE LAST AMERICAN MERCENARY in 2004. He then followed up PURG with BURNING HEAVEN in late 2004. He also wrote WALKING GHOST at that time.

In 2005 he wrote THREE WISE MEN (after interviewing one of the lawyers of the legendary serial killer Henry Lee Lucas).

Mr. Black attempted to obtain a literary agent from inside the prison, but was unsuccessful. He quit writing until 2007, when he was introduced to urban author Jimmy DaSaint, through his good friend “Freeway” Ricky Ross. He had worked with Ricky on several writing projects and decided to help with Ricky and Jimmy's new novel, BLACK SCARFACE (2008, DaSaint Entertainment).

With a newfound vigor Mr. Black and Mr. DaSaint began writing CONTRACT KILLER. Mr. Black then wrote SEE JACK DIE, SEE JACK HUNT, and SODOMY CAT.

He partnered up with former Paramedic Ian Federov to create SOUL'S HARBOR, and the decision was made to self-publish.

He lifts weights, trains in Jiu-jitsu, writes, reads Particle Physics books, and plays Football (soccer) every chance he can get.
