Tom has a master’s degree in psychology from Clark University. From 1966 to 1969 he was a National Science Foundation fellow. He lives with his wife in Northern California.
During the 1970s Tom worked for the Veterans Administration, the Massachusetts Department of Correction and the San Francisco Police Department. Wanted for Questioning, his first novel, is based in part on those experiences.
The novel is set 1973 Massachusetts. Neil McGuire, a prison counselor, is haunted by the death of his brother in Vietnam. When an inmate he was seeing in counseling is murdered, Neil withholds information from a police detective. This deception triggers a chain of events endangering both Neil and a woman he meets, a German divorcee with a troubled past.
