Smashwords Interview

Why did you write Globalocity?
Over the years, many people told me that I should write a book, especially after visiting my World Tour web site, and I always thought that this was maybe a good idea. I considered writing true stories from the road, but then I realized it would be more fun for me to write fiction, and for you to read fiction, so I wrote fiction... Raymond is adventurous, but he also has a curious mind, so of course Globalocity includes his intellectual observations. This book is more than a funny backpacker novel with a secret sub-plot. This book provides a compelling assessment of humanity at a critical moment in history, our moment. It provides a global perspective in a fun way. As Raymond travels the world, he meets many people with many perspectives, and so he gradually figures out the big picture. In other words, I wrote Globalocity to create an informative and entertaining work of art about Earth and everything.
How much do you have in common with Raymond?
We are both curious and open-minded with incurable wanderlust, but Raymond is a fictional guy. Some of his adventures happened to friends of mine, twisted into an alternate Universe, Raymond and I have a lot in common, but unlike me, he is a literary hero. I designed Raymond as a young American who travels the world for the first time, so that everything he discovers is fresh and exciting. Raymond also has family connections in Israel and Syria, but I won't say why. You'll have to read the book to find out.
