Moorings is the lavishly woven tale of a family system fractured by deception and loss, mirroring the ecosystem fracturing, post oil spill, that precipitated family conflict. The story takes place in an Alaska fishing village near Prince William Sound, and enlivens a region equally demanding and awe-inspiring. The author’s passion and respect for the region are contagious. When main character Anne steps off a ferry at Snug Harbor and sets out to find her father, the reader is taken along on a journey fraught with mystery and painful self-discovery. I was entertained, surprised, and thoroughly on-board for this journey. I finished the book with a longing to commence my own Alaska pilgrimage.
