Welcome Peter. I've read the Dark Pilgrim Series and found it a fascinating read. How many books do you currently have available on Smashbooks?
Thanks for the complement. I'm glad you enjoyed reading my books. I currently have nine books available through Smashwords. Six in one series called Dark Pilgrim, with which you are already familiar, two in a series called the Sslithax Heresy, and one stand alone called Eternity's Handmaiden.
Do you remember the first story you ever wrote, and the impact it had on you?
I wrote a short story when I was in sixth grade, about the time that Star Wars came out (now I'm dating myself). I used old paper from my dad's store advertising a Christmas special. It was green. I even self-illustrated it. Needless to say, it was a shameful rip-off of Star Wars, but I was only 12. But everyone I showed it to told me that they liked it, especially this one friend of my dad's and that was the catalyst for me to want to write more. I still show all my work that that friend of my dad. Amazingly, he still likes it all.
This is the second book in the Caelus series, a fantasy/sci-fi cross-over that follows the adventures of Lo'thar, Maegil, Jo'tal, and Lorelei as they strive to survive in a world completely foreign to anything they have ever experienced before.
When the planet Caelus is invaded by the mighty galactic empire of the Va'Shan, the inhabitants who use magic in every day tasks, are destroyed down to a hand full of suvivors. Lorelei is taken to serve the pleasure of the leader of the Va'Shan in his Sanctum. Lo'thar, Meagil, and Jo'tal are hunted down across the planet, their magic but a stop-gap measure against the might of the Va'Shan.
A Science Fiction thriller set in the far distant future against a backdrop of hostile aliens, scheming Greater Houses and The Church of the Blessed Prophets, all trying to claim the throne of the Imperium left vacant when the emperor is assassinated. Greed and avarice, love and hope, despair and lust all find a place in the first of a six book series.
Trial In Lavondel
on July 31, 2012
Once again Franz McLaren brings to life a wonderful story. His characters are believable and realistic and his prose flows with the story, compelling the reader from page to page. Following Zack and Angela from a world of abuse and loyalty to a parallel world wherein Angela possess power neither knew she had, Trail in Lavondel takes us from the realm of the suspenseful to the fantasy and back again with a grace that is magical. There are twists and turns to leave the reader spell-bound and an ending that will have you returning to find more of Franz's books to read. Well crafted, this is a good read for anyone who likes fantasy and suspense.
