Salvatore A. Bono

Biography

I'm originally from Boston, Massachusetts, but now reside in Chandler, Arizona. I'm a certified Project Manager, having worked as a Department of Defense Contractor for several years during the 1990s and 2000s. I was fortunate to see much of the world during my travels where I spent extensive time in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Qatar, and Pakistan. Some of these experiences abroad influenced my inspiration to write “The Five-Day Crucifixion.”

After writing “The Five-Day Crucifixion,” I became interested in screenwriting and wanted to diversify my writing experience. In 2011, after adapting the manuscript into a full feature screenplay, I formed The Sky’s the Limit Productions, LLC. In addition to my two completed novels, I have written five full feature screenplays and one teleplay to date. My writing preferences are fiction, faith-based dramas or thrillers, action adventure or science fiction stories. In 2012, I produced select portions of "The Five-Day Crucifixion" screenplay into a “teaser” and won a 2013 Bronze Telly Award during the 34th Annual Telly Awards.

Currently, I am working on the sequel to “The Five-Day Crucifixion” and envision the series concluding as a trilogy. The second novel’s working title is called, “Compassion’s Glory,” and the final book’s working title is called, “A Believer’s Rapture.”

Smashwords Interview

What motivated you to become an indie author?
In 2007, I was working in Kuwait as a government contractor. Putting in 13-14 hour work days in the middle of the desert wore me down. I needed an outlet, so I tried daily journal entries, free writing exercises etc. One thing led to another, and the result was the initial draft of my first novel, "The Five-Day Crucifixion." What a life changing event that turned out to be!
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The expression of ideas. Exploring where the depths of my imagination takes me . . . the journey of the story. I get into the roots of a character's personality, and one might say, the depths of their soul. I'm also an aspiring screenwriter, and this type of writing allows me to venture into an entirely different type of story telling. I become so immersed in the story that I feel like I'm living the experience. I'm there. The characters, the setting, the situation, all of it! The more I write, the further I explore the depths of my imagination. I always get psyched about how the story ends up perpetuating itself, feeding its own creation. Typing "The End" or "Fade to Black" at the end of a story is quite a satisfying accomplishment.
