T. Lawrence Harrison - The Reverend Deacon Sir T. Lawrence Harrison - is the pen name of a former Protestant clergyman, former Catholic cleric and Papal knight - and self-described Somerset Maugham and Hermann Hesse devotee. Retiring as the Vice-President of a libertarian leaning "think-tank" in late 2012 to partner with his screenwriter son on several screenplays, Harrison is now working on the intense contemporary political thriller "THE HUNT FOR BONIFACE." Look for it soon!
You were both a Protestant and Catholic clergyman?
Yes, guilty, I'm afraid! I was originally ordained into the United Church of Christ. However, in the mid-1980's I converted to Catholicism. When the Vatican said neither "yes" or "no" to my being ordained a priest, the bishop asked if I would consider becoming a permanent deacon. I said "yes" - and I was!
In addition to Somerset Maugham, Hermann Hesse and Marcus Aurelius, who else do you read?
"THE STRONGEST LOVE" is T. Lawrence Harrison's powerful and provocative homage to W. Somerset Maugham. Composed of three "novellas" inspired by the great novelist and short story writer: "THE STRONGEST LOVE...," "ADAM'S PEAK" and "ALL BOXED IN;" with each story a moving tale of our common struggle to find happiness and security in an all-too-often unhappy and insecure world.
