Smashwords Interview

What do you read for pleasure?
Everything. Any book that appeals to me from non-fiction historical novels or biographies to mystery, adventure, romance... anything. I love a lot of the urban fantasy that's out right now like Melissa Olson, Diana Pharoah Francis, Shannon Mayer, or Stephanie Erickson. All of them are taking different approaches to the genre and that's really exciting! I also read an amazing YA novel by Melinda Salisbury ("The Sin Eater's Daughter") which was phenomenal and a new approach to classical fantasy. I will admit that if I only have a short amount of time to read, I tend to pick up Sci-Fi or Fantasy because it is comforting; I know what to expect for the most part. Though, my current to-read stack has a little of everything in it and is staring at me from its 2+ foot stature.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I only own a Kindle. I fought getting any kind of e-reader for a long time because I love the feel and smell of books. When I realized how much more e-readers can do (like mini computers), I broke down and bought one. I started with the first Fire editions. I'm not a fan of a black and white screen. Honestly, now that I'm past my aversion to what I once thought would kill print books, I think they're all pretty awesome. How great is it that you can get an author's book the day it comes out and start reading it right away? I will still buy print copies though, don't get me wrong. Nothing replaces that feel and smell.
