VM Frost

Biography

Vm (Jack) Frost was born in Stamford, Lincolnshire. Moving with his Air Force parents to the Mediterranean island of Malta in the 1960’s, he remained there until 1976, when he returned to the UK to complete his education. Leaving school with negligible qualifications, he joined the British army where, after completing several operational tours, he left as a senior non-commissioned officer. Since then, he has undertaken such diverse work as: grill chef, baker, mechanic, and builder. After a period working as a residential social worker with troubled adolescents, he became a police officer; firstly with Thames Valley Police, and then later the Metropolitan Police, where for the remainder of his15 years service, he served on the front line carrying out both investigatory work and public order duties, including the quelling of the 2011 Tottenham riots. Front Stack is his fourth book.

Smashwords Interview

When did you first start writing?
The first draft of By Conscience Bound was written some twelve years before the final draft! I never really wanted to be a vanity author, but back then, this was the only option open to me. The advent of ebooks and organisations such as the brilliant smashwords, have ensured that my work has seen the light of day.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up on the tiny Mediterranean island of Malta in the 1970's. My first two books; the fictional "By Conscience Bound," and its factual counterpart, "The Boy in Wellington Boots," reflect my childhood and the hardships I encountered. Writing these books proved to be a cathartic experience and helped to purge the bad memories of my past.
