I'll try to keep my excitement to a minimum and post only one review. This first installment of Claire's adventures was filled with humor, terrible luck, and misfortune. The author has a strong capacity for writing, masterful control over dialog, monologue, and details. The story is immediately interesting. It was a nice and peaceful read. I got a lot of good laughs, and I felt it had several interesting and realistic characters in it. I would and probably will follow more of Claire's adventures. My main criticism is the plot of the story doesn't seem to shift enough. It comes on fast, and then flat-lines until the last few chapters. it is non-climatic. This could be the series-writing style approach or simply the length of the piece. This lack of moving suspense may also be just a personal preference. I'm also anxious to check out her Dragon Wraiths, because that is much more my field of expertise and interest. So, expect to hear another review from James!
