Ward Powers has a B.A. in Greek from Sydney University, a M.A. in Linguistics from Reading University and a PhD in New Testament Ethics from London University. He has been a pastor at churches in both Australia and the UK, as well as serving on the faculty of Moore Theological College, Sydney Missionary and Bible College and Tyndale College. He is currently engaged in full-time Christian research and writing with a particular focus on helping people understand what the bible means in its original language, and how it applies to current issues.
Much of the debate about women’s ministry results from the fact that we do not always distinguish things that differ. Two areas of potential confusion in our thinking about the question of the role of women in the church are... a failure to distinguish between authority and structure vs gifts and ministry, and... mixing up what Scripture says about relationships in marriage and the church.
