In the ongoing process of indexing the Icelandic sagas, I have worked with other forms of Nordic tales from sources not yet available in English. I want to make these stories available to readers who otherwise would not know of them, their fascinating themes and origins.
An English translation of Hugo Gering's 1882 publication, "Íslendzk Æventýri", with stories he found in old Icelandic Arnamagnaean manuscripts. These stories tell Icelandic and European tales both ecclesiastic and secular going as far back as the 3rd century. This is a 2017 revision.
An English translation of the 1919 German compilation of old Icelandic short tales and legends originally published by Åge Avenstrup & Elisabeth Treitel.
Most of these tales take place in actual locales in Iceland that still exist today, so most of these tales now include locator maps of the places in Iceland where these tales are set, some with links to satellite or actual street-level views.
